Jesse David Bell is best described as a family man. Because he and his wife Cami, and their 4 children love calling Bountiful home, and because he cares deeply about maintaining the integrity and safety of our children’s hometown, he has decided to run for a seat on the Bountiful City Council.

Jesse’s resume does not read like a typical political candidate. Although he has always felt passionate about preserving our freedoms, he never intended to be elected to any office. Jesse has always loved design and finds joy in creating. Landscape Architecture seemed like a natural profession for him. He graduated from Utah State University with a bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning in 2004. His first job was in downtown San Diego where he worked on designs for many private developments, public parks, trails, and open spaces.

As much as Jesse’s family loved the ocean and the California sunshine, the mountains and family kept tugging at their hearts to come back to Utah. So after a year in the coastal city, Jesse got a job with a prominent Landscape Architecture firm in downtown Salt Lake City. He and his wife began to look for homes all along the Wasatch Front but knew immediately that Bountiful was where they wanted to be. There was something about the small town feeling, and beautiful homes and gardens that felt like home. Their children have loved growing up from Bountiful Elementary to Bountiful High.

Working for a couple different Salt Lake design and planning firms, Jesse had the opportunity to work on many large and small scale projects including: City Creek Center, Salt Lake City Regional Soccer Complex, Red Butte Gardens, many city parks and trailheads, temples for the Church of Jesus Christ, and more. Public projects demand a lot of public input and coordination. Jesse always found this part of the job invigorating and he worked long hours to collaborate many different ideas and needs into one great design that would serve the public well, not just at the time but for generations.

Recently Jesse has changed career paths and now works as a loan officer, helping people get into homes that meet their needs. He has seen first hand the demand and need for affordable housing, and is anxious to shape plans to help with this pressing issue. Jesse enjoys this career as it allows him more time to be with his growing family and also serve in church callings and community appointments such as the Bountiful City Planning Commission and Chairman of the Bountiful City Trails Committee.
